A smoothie is a quick and healthy snack that provides useful minerals and vitamins with little time and energy consumption.
Vitamin B Smoothie Ingredients:
- 1 banana
- 1 pear
- 5 kiwi (approx. 30 g)
- A tiny piece of avocado (approx. 5 g)
- 1 tsp. spirulina powder (we used Boost Yourself spirulina powder)
- 1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1–2 tbsp. Wösel Apple Cider Vinegar
If you are used to drinking vinegar with a glass of water in the morning, then here is one way to start your day with a smoothie to which apple cider vinegar has been added. Of course, making a smoothie is a breeze, simply put all of the ingredients in a blender and voilà, you’re done. Adding avocado is a matter of taste – all you need is a very small amount, but it gives the smoothie a nice creamy texture. Since banana, pear, avocado and spirulina do not give an acidic taste to the smoothie, vinegar, in addition to its healthy properties, is also important for achieving flavour.
However, the taste of this smoothie is largely dictated by spirulina, which rightfully belongs on the list of superfoods. Spirulina is a blue-green algae that has existed on planet Earth for as long as life. Spirulina is rich in B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6, B9), beta-carotene and vitamins A, E, and K. Of the minerals, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, sulphur, chromium and selenium are represented. Spirulina contains 60–70 g of protein per 100 g, which is almost 3 times more than meat.
Microalgae contains all of the amino acids, including essential amino acids, which are not synthesized by the body itself. For omnivores, this fact is probably not so important, but it definitely speaks to vegetarians, while people who prefer vegan food today are also aware that they can perfectly combine their menu with the necessary plant-based proteins.
After a couple of smoothies, the taste of spirulina no longer seems foreign and one is faced with the danger of getting so accustomed to the taste of spirulina that making a vitamin B smoothie without it becomes impossible. Surely the healthy properties of spirulina are worth getting used to the taste!
